Gaui X7:- Main gear, Motor mount and Head build up
Onto the Main gear, Motor mounting and Head build now
The Gaui X7 use’s a slant cut main gear for the drive system. Also a crown gear for the tail drive.
You’re not going to strip this one easily !!!!
Heavy duty mast locking collar with twin locking bolts.
Here it is complete and installed.
**Note** Later in the build when the tail is fitted, you have to shim the main gear assembly up or down to get the correct gear meshing
Here’s the parts that make up the motor mounting. The top part here is the motor shaft bearing support.
Motor mount fitted with it’s wings!!!!
You can see the slots cut here which gives the motor pinion meshing facility.
Looks like bling fitted, but these are actually the heat sink for the motor !!
They do look cool as well :)
Parts in there bags for the head build up
Sacrificial grip arms save replacing the whole grip after a crash !!
Here’s an extract from the manual showing the grip build up
In the flesh, here it is complete
Now fitted to the model.
As you can see the control system uses no anti-rotation clamp on the main shaft. Instead the the arms go through guides. There control arms are turnbuckles!! This means that when you turn the rod the link either gets longer or shorter. Great for adjusting the tracking :)
Important note to follow here.
As you can see by the original build (photo on the right) there is equal distance top and bottom of thread showing on the control arm. Unfortually if you carry on with this, its possible that at full swash travel the control arm will lock into the control rod guide and bind the head up.
On the left picture I have taken out this threaded portion on the top and put it all down the bottom. This stops the binding happening !!!
