New 695mm V Blades

19 May 2012 | posted by Matt Long

Being an old school kind of guy and a fan of the first generation V-Blades I was pretty pleased to hear that Vic Campbell was back producing the Blades again and with the help of Team Pilot’s like Alan Szabo JR and Nick Maxwell doing the testing it was obvious the new Generation would be every bit as awesome as the first one’s, especially as they were being made where they should be…. back in the USA :)

The biggest difference with V Blades to any other is how EXTREMELY stiff they are, this due to the fact that pretty much every other blade is a foam core where as the V’s are wooden resulting in a much MUCH stiffer blade which gives them a “poppier”, sharper and very VERY fast feel like no other blade out there and with the latest trend to fit much lower DFC style heads the ‘stiffness’ can only be a good thing :)

The only draw back to the blades being stiffer than Jedwoods hair is I found that back in the day of Trex 600 nitro’s and OS 50 Hyper’s they were very power hungry which meant you had to have very good collective management and not over pitch the heli or it would tend to bog the engine, fortunately with the latest craze of Flybarless and engine’s being much BIGGER and electric Heli’s having 7million horse power that’s not an issue now days, you just get a blade that perform’s like no other (and take it from me they do) with out any draw back’s,  :)

The finish of the Blade is also bang up to scratch and easily on par with other top end Blades such as Edge and Radix etc, the look pretty dam cool also, even as a disc in the air ;)

These will definitely be my choice of Blade for 2012
